No Kings Day in Seattle: Taking a Stand for Democracy and LGBTQ+ Rights

On June 14, 2025, Seattle joined a powerful wave of resistance known as “No Kings Day”, a nationwide day of defiance against authoritarianism and militarism. Nearly 2,000 cities across the U.S. hosted protests, echoing the message of “No thrones, no crowns, no kings”. In Seattle, thousands [will] gathered at Cal Anderson Park at noon before marching to the Seattle Center, demanding democratic accountability and defying Trump’s militarized birthday parade plans.

Why No Kings Matters to the LGBTQ+ Community

For LGBTQ+ individuals, No Kings isn’t just a political rally—it’s a vital defense of rights that have been historically under threat from authoritarian regimes. These protests are about more than opposing a military parade—they’re about safeguarding civil liberties, affirming queer existence, and resisting policies that aim to silence or exclude marginalized voices. In a city like Seattle—an LGBTQ+ haven since the Stonewall era—the convergence of Pride Month and No Kings Day underscores the urgency of collective action .
